Inauguration of MII Powai Lake CPE Study Circle with session on ‘Union Budget 2013’

MII Powai Lake (Mumbai) CPE Study Circle of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) hosted its inaugural function and first technical session on “Union Budget 2013” on Sunday, March 3, 2013 held in Powai.

The event was well attended by around sixty Chartered Accountants in Industry residing/working in Powai/Chandivali area. The Chief Guest of the event was CA Rajkumar Adukia (Chairman CFM & IP of ICAI) and the Guest of Honor was CA Prafulla Chhajed (Vice Chairman CMII of ICAI). Special guests included CA. Mangesh Kinare (newly elected Chairman WIRC), CA. Parag Raval, CA.Sunil Patodia, CA Sanjeev Maheshwari and other dignitaries of ICAI.

At the inauguration, CA Hemchand Kochar gave a welcome address. He highlighted that the primary objective of the study circle is to provide Continuing Professional Education (CPE) for members in industry and provide a networking platform for ICAI members in industry.

All dignitaries of ICAI said some encouraging words and also highlighted the growing importance of CAs in Industry and encouraged members in industry for greater involvement with ICAI. CA Prafulla Chhajed and CA Sunil Patodia who are also residents of Powai offered full support from ICAI to the study circle.

The inaugural function was followed by an interesting and interactive session on the “Union Budget 2013” Chaired by CA Sunil Rustagi. The experts CA. T.P. Ostwal and Shri Shailesh Sheth were invited to educate the members on Direct and Indirect taxes amendments respectively in the budget.

The study circle intends to organize monthly meetings of the members and invites eminent and experienced people from different walks of life to share their knowledge, experiences and build an environment for constructive discussions and debates. Study circle will announce the next session based on feedback collected from members during the first session.
