THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI on Friday raided the Mumbai residence of the chief commissioner of income tax in Kerala, Anil Goel, based on information that he is involved in the tax evasion bribery racket in the state.
It is learnt that unaccounted money to the tune of Rs 30 crore was seized from Goel's residence in Mumbai following the raid. There were raids conducted at several spots in Thiruvananthapuram too, including the Income Tax office at Kowdiar and the residences of principal commissioner of I-T Sailendra Mamidi and I-T officer Sarath, who are in judicial custody now. There were unconfirmed reports that gold bars were seized from Sarath's bank locker. CBI authorities, however, remained tight-lipped regarding the details of the raids.
