2011 has brought more than 2,000 tax changes for companies worldwide
Companies with national and multinational operations had to adjust to
more than 2,000 tax changes in the U.S. and abroad during the first
two quarters of 2011, according to a report from Thomson Reuters. The
vast majority of changes in the U.S. during the second quarter were
either new taxes or tax increases on items including sales. "For a
business that runs its sales-tax function completely in-house, just
one sales-tax change requires substantial operational resources," says
Carla Yrjanson of Thomson Reuters.
