Minimum Rates of Wages have been made applicable to Chartered Accountants in West Bengal w.e.f. 1st April, 2012.
The relevant notification dated 23rd April, 2012 is attached herewith.
The notification clearly states that the minimum rates have been made applicable as "no representation has been received in the matter within the time specified".... by the Government.
The minimum wages have been revised w.e.f. 1st January, 2013. The notification is attached herewith.
The minimum monthly wages for a peon has been prescribed at Rs. 5739/- while a typist or clerk is entitled to Rs. 6944/- per month!
This is subject to further revision every six months.
We as an established CA Firm in Kolkata since last 40 years strongly feel that the rates are unreasonable keeping in mind the present scenario in which the practicing CA Firms are working.
There has been a case in Kolkata, where the representation from Shops and Establishments to Kolkata High Court have got such unreasonable orders injuncted and minimum wages are not applicable to them at all.
