The economic slowdown did not seem to have affected placements at the
Institute of Chartered Accountant of India (ICAI). As many as 624
students received plum offers from 58 companies during the second campus
placement programme. According to a note from the institute, campus
placement for the year 2013
was held across 16 cities of the country.
Jobs were offered in both India and abroad. Recruiters who visited the campus included ITC, Hindustan Uniliver Ltd, Alghanim Industries, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Ltd, Wipro Ltd, Madhura Fashion and Life Style and Marriot Hotels India Pvt Limited.
The companies represented almost all the sectors of the Indian economy like Information Technology, Financial Services, Oil & Gas Refining, Banking, BPO, Telecommunication, Mining, FMCG and Agro. The best response was received from the IT sector.
As per the official note, the highest package stood at Rs 24.64 lakh per annum and was offered to three students by Alghanim Industries for international posting.
The ICAI-Ahmedabad Chapter is yet to compile data of the placement season for chartered accountants from the city.
Talking about the placement programme, president of ICAI, CA Subodh Kumar Agrawal said: “We are happy to see the response of companies at our campus placement programme despite the current phase of economic slump.
We organise such recruitment programmes twice a year for budding chartered accountants to give them a head start in their careers in the areas of taxation and finance.”
