ICAI takes part in election expenditure monitoring system

For the first time in its long and illutrous history, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India(ICAI)has been asked by the Election Commission to conduct the'election expenditure monitoring' of all political parties and candidates before,during and after the next general elections.
Announciong this ICAI President K Raghu and his Deputy Manoj Fadnis here today said accordingly they had convened separate meetings and workshops with all recognised politial parties and their
candidates to apprise them of the nitty-gritty of the procerdures of the expenditure monitoring system during the election period.
While most of the participants welcomed the election Commission's decision and assured us of full cooperation towards providing all necessary details,a few other had indeed expressed strong reservations, claimed Mr Raghu.
Describing the EC's offer as challenging under the present circumstances, both Mr Raghu and Mr Fadnis,however,expressed full confidence towrads fulfilling the reponsibity with impunity.
Highlighting other activities of ICAI as the country's leading accounting body,they said apart from increasing the members footprints across the country by opening many new chapterms even in smaller towns and cities,they had now decided to spread their wings to a number of countries abroad.
This would enable our members and successful students to apply for fresh jobs even in foreign lands including those in the Middle East,Africa,Australia and New Zealand, Mr Raghu said.
The ICAI had also set up women members and young members empowerment committees to provide more job opportunities and other avenues to highly successful women and young chartered accountants from the Institute,they said and announced a number of other students centric work and study initiatives across the country.
