(as received in mail)
It is the most
unfortunate day for Chartered Accountants, who guide public about how to conduct
General Meeting, and our own AGM finishes (not concluded) in less than 3
minutes.
As you all know, the AGM
of Jalandhar Branch, which was ordered by ICAI, was slated for today at 4pm.
The Chairman started the meeting with putting before the members the Agenda of
the meeting
“to receive, consider
and adopt the Audited Balance Sheet of the Branch as at 31.03.2015 and
Income
& Expenditure Account for the year ended on that date together with reports
of Auditors thereon”
and straight away asked
the members if any member has any objection on adoption of the same. Members
including CA V P Vijh, CA Rajive Bansal, CA Naresh Thatai, CA Surinder Anand,
CA I S Arora, CA Narinder Vig, CA A P Singh, CA S S Samlok, CA Pavitar Singh,
CA Ashok Sareen etc. raised the voice that the accounts should be considered
first and the objections should be taken and redressed, but the chairman gave a
deaf ear to each and every voice and kept speaking in mike(loudspeaker) without
hearing and giving any chance to speak to anyone except him. CA V P Vijh stood
up to speak about this high-handedness, but the Chairman defied him as well.
Due to this, the voice of members about various objections kept snubbed in the
voice of Chairman (who was on mike). To make available the level playing field
to both sides, one of the senior members pulled the wire of mike, and the mike
fell on the floor. Seeing this, one of the office bearers on the dais got red
and threw the mike on that senior member with an intention to hurt him. With this members gathered in front of dias and the
meeting finished in blaming each other on the floor. All the
‘proceeding’ took less than 3 minutes, where none of the various objections to
the accounts were taken, no opening balance sheet was provided, no reply to the
written objections raised for long time and the like. It is reminded that I had been raising at least 14
points in writing on these current year accounts since 13.06.2015 in writing,
which were never taken care of by the office bearers.
Total members
present were around 60-65 and many of them felt ashamed about the today’s acts
of the office bearers of Jalandhar Branch of NIRC.
All this can be seen in
the recording of the meeting, which needs to be made public in the court of
members of the profession.
