Chartered Accountants in Pakistan gain international recognition


Chartered Accountants in Pakistan gain international recognition as ICAP joins Chartered Accountants Worldwide
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) has been awarded Associate membership by Chartered Accountants Worldwide. ICAP is the second professional body to be admitted to the
organisation since it was launched in February 2013.
As an Associate member, ICAP joins a group of globally-recognised Chartered Accountancy bodies that are committed to enhancing the value of the brand and the profession. Its membership recognises the importance of the qualification in Pakistan and demonstrates ICAP’s commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards.
Chartered Accountants have been a mark of excellence in the accountancy and business sectors for over 150 years. They are working in over 180 different countries across the world. By joining the globally-recognised Chartered Accountants Worldwide, ICAP will boost its international presence and have an opportunity to contribute to the further development of the profession. It will also open up access to events and networking opportunities for its members.
ICAP was established in 1961, and is the premier regulatory body for the development and regulation of the profession in Pakistan, with around 7,000 members. Chartered Accountants Worldwide was created by the leading institutes from around the world to support, develop and promote the role that Chartered Accountants play throughout the global economy. ICAP’s admission is a recognition of its excellence and commitment to providing services of the highest standards across the world.

 Dr Terence Nombembe, CEO of the South Africa Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), said: “We are pleased to welcome ICAP to the CAW fold.  ICAP’s participation in Chartered Accountants Worldwide is important, as it will help us to shape the Chartered Accountancy profession further globally. ICAP is the second institute to join Chartered Accountants Worldwide as an Associate member, making a key contribution to the global expansion of the organisation. The rest of the Chartered Accountants Worldwide family are founder members; Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI),Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland( ICAS),  the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA).
