In view of the Haryana assembly elections, the state government has declared October 21 to be a close day (holiday with wages) for all shops and commercial establishments falling within the jurisdiction area of Haryana only so as to enable
the Haryana voters to exercise their franchise.
Stating this here on Friday, a Labour department spokesman said a notification has been issued in this regard.
He said the holiday has been declared in exercise of the powers conferred by the second proviso of sub section (I) of section 10 of the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958 (Punjab Act 15 of 1958).
