VADODARA: Two of the popular
garba venues in the city have come under scanner of the office of
goods and services tax.
The state
GST
officials have begun conducting survey at the offices of Palace
Heritage Garba Mahotsav and United Way of Baroda. The GST officials are
scrutinizing the account books and other financial details of the garba
organizers.
“This is a survey to scrutinize their accounts. We
are ascertaining if they have shown their revenues
and expenses properly
apart from the bills,” said a SGST official.
The SGST officials
will also contact the vendors, sponsors and service providers of these
garba organizers and cross verify the bills as well as other financial
transactions.
“If we find any anomaly in the transactions then we
will take further action. As of now we are studying all the documents
that we have brought from these garba organizers’ offices,” the official
added.
The UWB’s move to collect garba entry fee as donation is also being scrutinized by the SGST.
The royal Gaekwad family organized the Palace Heritage Garba Mahotsav at Navlakhi Ground for the first time this year.
While United Way of Baroda has been organizing garba since long in the city.
It
is one of the most popular garba venues attracting thousands of garba
revellers every Navratri. Soon after the Navratri ended, the GST
officials began the work on surveying offices of these organizers.
