As of October 1st, 2014, Indian citizens and permanent residents
wishing to take the Uniform CPA Examination may do so in designated
Middle Eastern countries, according to a statement made by the AICPA,
NASBA, and Prometric.
In response to international demand
for the U.S. CPA license, the CPA Exam has been available in
the Middle
East beginning in August 2011, with testing available in Bahrain,
Kuwait, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates. Indian citizens and
permanent residents will now be able to take the Exam in any of these
selected countries.
Indian candidates predominately
traveled to the U.S. to take the Exam, comprising one of the largest
international groups of travelers to do so. By opening the surrounding
areas for CPA testing, Indian citizens will now have multiple testing
options to choose from.
The international administration of the Exam, offered in
English, is the same as the Exam administered by the AICPA, NASBA, and
Prometric in the United States.
Licensure
requirements for international candidates mirror that for U.S. CPA
candidates - along with passing the Uniform CPA Examination,
international students must meet education and professional experience
requirements as mandated by U.S. Boards of Accountancy.
CPA Exam candidates can register on
Prometric.com/cpa. Indian candidates may apply through one of the U.S. Boards of Accountancy, a list of which can be found on the
“Exams” section of the NASBA website.
