GURGAON: A regulatory committee, headed by the divisional commissioner,
has started the financial audit of nine private schools in the city that
parents of several students have accused of charging exorbitant fees.
Five schools have already been covered under the audit. "We had received complaints from the parents' association on the unreasonable fees, following which we have initiated an audit. A chartered
accountant is analysing the accounts of these schools to check for irregularities, if any," said Vinay Pratap Singh, additional deputy commissioner.
Asked if any irregularities have been found yet, Singh said those observations can only be made after the audit report is completed. Over 1,000 parents had approached the committee against the nine schools, which include some of the most well known names, in May.
