The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Bhawan in Tirupur is all set to get new facilities at an estimated outlay of over Rs. 2 crore.
K.S. Kalyanaraman, chairman of ICAI (Tirupur chapter), said as part of the project, a sophisticated library, state-of-the-art IT-enabled laboratory and meeting hall would be set up in a new block for the benefit of both the members as well as for the students pursuing the chartered accountancy course.
These would be commissioned within six months.
After laying the foundation stone for the new project, the ICAI national president, G. Ramaswamy, said that the Union Government had approved certain exemptions to graduates who wished to pursue CA course.
Accordingly, B.Com graduates who had passed with 55 per cent marks and other undergraduate degree holders who scored 60 per cent marks, could directly join the articleship stage in the chartered accountancy course without having to pass the Common Proficiency Test.
