Description
Overall Job Purpose:
The
IBD finance team provides product, sector, country and banker
performance reporting to the IBD management teams globally. Work
closely with the Mergers and Acquisitions, Corp Finance Coverage and
Global Finance & Risk solutions front office teams, Product
Control, Sales Finance and Portfolio Management teams to ensure
appropriate capture of Corporate Client Revenues, Costs and Capital to
facilitate accurate and insightful business performance reporting.
The
Process and Controls team is responsible for maintaining accurate and
timely revenue recognition in accordance with established revenue
recognition policies. This encompasses oversight of:
- Coordination with PC group for fee based products recognition ;
- Monitoring of Oneview Feeds for derivative and risk based products;
- Maintain shared client databases for shadow recognition on distribution owned sales credits;
- Calculating and process flow for the Corporate ETA gross-up and payway across products
- Liaise with Portfolio management team for loan and derivative capital allocations by client and allocation process for the Loan Subsidy process.
- Ensuring revenues flow properly to revenue reporting system IRIS and down to IBD transaction process flow tool eBanker
- Liaise with Front office that eBanker deals are set up accurately for Sector and Banker recognition.
- Adhoc analysis and investigation on transaction revenue recognition issues
- Report and monitor transaction pipeline accuracy and coordination around deal booking.
- Maintain Profitability model in conjunction with the central Financial Planning and Analysis and Cost Decision Support teams for accurate PBT reporting for the division
- Documentation of IBD Finance Process Flows and methodologies;
- Driving/prioritising the IT enhancements via Minor Works stream.
This
function is key to preserving the integrity of the IBD results being
reported both functionally within IBD and for firm mgmt reporting. It
is also the basis for the external Investment Banking Segment disclosure
externally.
Main Accountabilities:
Lead
a team of 2-3 P&C analysts responsible for a broad aspect of the
IBD P&C reporting agenda reporting locally to the IBD Finance VP
head of reporting P&C team but with linkages to the client facing
leads globally. Look to embed effective risk monitoring mechanisms to
highlight pain points afflicting the P&C global query volumes and
help drive appropriate priorities to help reduce global query volumes.
Ensure visibility of projects and initiatives to senior management,
highlighting the associated benefits/risks and ultimately, the return on
investment. Partner closely with the global P&C lead such that as
part of the wider Sales Finance organisation, cohesive relationships are
formed with the reporting streams to help facilitate investigations,
mpact analysis, ad hoc MI requests, and ultimately, overall knowledge
sharing.
Key Responsibilities of the Team
Protect
the integrity of the IBD Revenues booked by understanding business
centric practices and processes, and remediate any issues on a timely
fashion. Ensure process and controls are implemented effectively and
the risks are mitigated. Continually drive the efficiencies and
improvement agenda through identification of systemic issues requiring
coordination with our technology partners, or designing appropriate
training related material to facilitate proper trade booking protocol
and procedures. Develop and build a strong partnership with the
businesses globally and provide end-to-end advice on IBD revenue related
matters.
- Be the primary contact for IBD revenue recognition queries ensuring resolution within agreed service levels.
- Communicate and escalate run-the-bank issues arising from queries
- Be able to work independently with tech and other support groups where necessary for issues resolution.
- Perform meaningful analysis on reports and provide insightful commentary that can be translated into robust/effective remediation plans/effort.
- Ensure that reports are clearly communicated through appropriate channels (eg COOs, IBD Finance management etc)
- Participate in UAT and drive relevant systemic fixes.
- Document any changes to process flows and be the SME on new development initiatives.
- Play an active role in identifying opportunities for process improvements to drive efficiencies and tightening of the control environment.
Essential/Basic Qualifications
Person Specification:
Qualifications /Education:
- University degree or equivalent, qualified Accountant (CA, CPA, ACCA)
Application Skills (Highly Desirable):
- Advanced Excel skills, proficiency in performing detailed analytics by leveraging advanced formulae
- Experience navigating multiple trade capture systems
Knowledge & Experience:
- Demonstrate a track record of leading a small to medium sized team
- Demonstrable examples on coaching and performance management
- Strong stakeholder management
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in Investment Banking or equivalent
- Securities and capital markets desirable.
- Investment Banking or Product Control experience desirable.
- Strong on control awareness. A confident and articulate self-starter with the ability to cope with the demands of working to tight deadlines.
- Keen analytical skills and the ability to challenge current processes and develop effective alternate solutions.
- A strong team player with a high level of commitment and enthusiasm.
- Comfortable with the demands of working in a pressured environment.
- Strong interpersonally and have the ability to communicate at all levels.
