The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organised the Global Commerce Education Summit on December 5. The conference provided a forum for exchange of thoughts and interaction on various areas of academic and practical
interest such as the need for relevant course curriculum, method of imparting education and examination reforms among leading academicians in the field of commerce and accountancy education in India. The aim was also to build synergy between the university education and the professional accountancy education system.
ISB gets AACSB accreditation
The Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, announced it has been accredited by the United States-headquartered Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), counting itself as south Asias first business school to get this tag. Less than 5% of the worlds business schools have AACSB accreditation.
Leadership awards for school students
A Delhi-based organisation is inviting nominations on children who demonstrate leadership and creativity and for making a difference awards for teachers. Nominations should be submitted with the following information: credentials, sample work, and evaluation by school. A total of 10 nominations can be sent by the school in all categories. Nominations should equally cover all the age groups and classes (6 to 12). Nomination formats will be provided by the NGO, Skills for Life Foundation, once it receives consent for participation from the school. There are five main categories of this award: leadership; making a difference; poetic expression; creative writing and artistic expression. Students can register for the awards through their school. Twenty final nominations in each category will be a part of a red carpet event slated for April. Five out of the 20 in the respective categories will get the leadership awards with a certificate of excellence and a tablet PC. For details visit .
Manorama Yearbook 2012 is out
The 47th edition of the Manorama Yearbook, a general knowledge update for students, researchers and curious people in general, is out. The cover story of the more than 1000-page book is on the Arab uprisings, covered country by country by country. The edition has about 30 articles on other major political, economic and social issues. It gives information on every country, timelines on various topics and other facts and events.
