The objective of organising this Industry Specific Workshop is as follows:
Food processing industry in India is a sunrise sector that has gained prominence over the recent
years. Availability of raw materials, changing lifestyles and appropriate fiscal policies has given
a considerable push to the industry’s growth. This sector serves as a vital link between the
agriculture and industrial segments of the economy. It is the need of the hour that the adequate
attention should be paid to Food Processing Industry. This programme would focus on key issues
in the Food Processing Industry so that right impetus can be given to it to further improve its
contribution for the development of our nation’s economy.
