DELHI: Once a citizen is eligible to vote and has enrolled as a voter, a
voter slip from the Election Commission will be issued which confirms
the citizen's name on the voter list. This slip, along with a photo ID
proof recognized by the Election Commission, can act as a voter card.
If the resident fails to get the voter slip, they can check online or
call the helpline to find out. In order
to check if you have
successfully enrolled yourself in the voter list, follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit The National Voters' Service portal —
https://www.nvsp.in or National Voter Services Portal's Electoral Search page (NVSP).
Step 2: If you have the EPIC number then click on 'Search by EPIC number'. If not, then click on 'Search by details'.
If the page does not reflect your details after clicking on the search
option, it means that your name is missing from the voter's list and you
need to register again. If your name appears, you are eligible to vote.
To register as a voter, you have to fill in Form- 6 and submit it to the
Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of the Assembly Constituency and
your name will be included in the electoral roll as a voter. One of the
easiest ways to way to submit Form-6 is:
Online application
Step 1. Log on to www.eci.nic.in or Chief Electoral Officer (CEO)
website the of the state where the new voter ordinarily resides. Click
on tab 'Online Voter Registration'
Step 2. Sign up to obtain a username and password.
Step 3. Upload one passport size color photo in the space mentioned.
Step 4. Upload the proof of residence and age. In case you are
unable to upload, the Booth Level Officer (BLO) may also collect the
documents from your house.
The ECI has also launched a mobile app '
Voter Helpline' which helps citizens not only in
finding names, submitting forms, checking status but also in filing
complaints and receiving replies. All guidelines, forms, results,
candidate affidavit, press notes, voter awareness are accessible to the
user through the app.
You can go to the home page of the website of your state CEOs and click
on tab 'Check your Name in the Voter’s List' or use SMS for checking
your details. Type EPIC<SPACE>Voter ID No and sent to 9211728082.
