Yummy Idli and Chutney recipe



Yummy Idli and Chutney

Ingredients
  • 3 cups Long Grain Rice
  • 1/2 cup Parboiled Rice
  • 1 cup Urad Dal
  • Salt to taste
For chutney:
  • 1/2 cup - grated coconut
  • 3-4 Green Chillies
  • 1 tbsp Dalia (Dried channa/ Kadala Paruppu)
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard
  • 5-6 Curry leaves

Steps
  1. Soak long grain rice and parboiled rice in one container and the dal in another for 4 to 6 hours.
  2. Grind the dal to a very fine paste.
  3. Grind the rice separately and add to the dal paste.
  4. Add the salt, mix well and leave the batter in a warm place for about a day and half, till the batter rises.
  5. Pour the dough in the idli maker.
  6. Steam for about 10 to 15 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with chutney.
For chutney:
Steps
  1. Grind together coconut and chillies.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustards and curry leaves, saute the dalia, add in the ground coconut. Saute for a few mins and serve.
