Description
The incumbent will be responsible to understand accounting and reporting linkages in updating the financial platforms of American Express. He/ She will work towards full automation between legacy sub ledger systems and the Oracle suite of products. This would include redesign of the end to end process to enhance transparency and traceability of financial accounting and reporting data besides elimination of manual processes and workarounds. He / she will gain firsthand experience in the entire systems landscape of American Express including functional usage and operations of various platforms. The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Leading and contributing to the execution of strategies for conversion of existing platforms to address relevant accounting and reporting needs;
- Participating in the overall governance framework established to drive the large change across the Company.
- Conducting requirements gathering and external/ internal research to drive the changes and improvements to business systems and processes.
- Application of project management principles in leading the specific systems conversion.
- Partnering with internal customers &stakeholders across the globe to manage the large change for the Company.
- Working extensively with the technology teams and other business / project partners to coordinate end to end requirements, design, testing and deployment including change management associated with the initiative.
- Partner with external consultants, when required to ensure efficient delivery of industry best practices. This position will report to the Director, Global Accounting
Qualifications
CA / CPA / MBA with 6+ years of post qualification experience.
- Technical bent of mind, understanding of functional processes and ability to establish end to end linkages. Capability of thinking ‘Outside the Box’.
- Appreciation and understanding of US GAAP requirements and financial control principles and practices will be highly desirable.
- Transformational approach to Process efficiency and effectiveness.
- Results driven approach with an ability to convert strategic vision into clear project outcomes.
- Strong relationship management and conflict resolution skills with a proven track of positively collaborating, influencing and extensively coordinating with internal and external partners.
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, facilitation and presentation writing skills. Must be able to communicate results to stakeholders including non-finance people.
- Ability to handle a high pressure environment, decision making in challenging situations.
- Must be a self starter with an ability to drive large scale change.
- High Proficiency in Ms Office (Excel, Word, Power point) is a requirement.
- Oracle expertise especially across GL, consolidations and reporting tools, is preferred.
- Specific exposure to an ERP Implementation environment is desirable.
- Exposure in Project Management is required.
- Quality black belt/Green Belt trained/certified is highly desirable.
- People leadership skills is a plus.
- Understanding of the American Express Systems, businesses and processes at a high level is a plus
