India lifts ban on cotton export
In view of the interests of the farmers, industry and trade, the government decided to roll back the ban imposed last week

New Delhi: The Government on Monday lifted the ban on export of cotton. The ban was imposed last week.
An official notification was issued today by the Director General of Foreign Trade to this effect, removing the earlier ban on export of cotton.
The notification issued said the Central Government hereby withdraws the earlier notification that had banned cotton exports.
Commerce and Textile Minister Anand Sharma had said on Sunday that in view of the interests of the farmers, industry and trade, a balanced view has been considered by the Group of Ministers to roll back the ban.
The Prime Minister had asked the Group of Ministers to review the ban on cotton exports after receiving representations on the issue from various quarters
