A team of the Income Tax Department conducted a survey at an IELTS coaching centre situated near the Ajit road on Thursday.
I-T officials reached the Grey Matters IELTS centre around 10:30 am and scrutinised documents during the survey.
Records of fee collection from students were also thoroughly examined by the department officials. Sources in the department said the officials were busy comparing the I-T returns filed and income
earned by the owner of the centre.
This would assist them in identifying if the owner of the centre possesses more income than the known sources of income, they added.
Talking to Bathinda Tribune, Joint Commissioner, Income Tax, PK Sharma, said, “The survey proceedings are on and whether there are irregularities or not, would be established once the investigation is complete.”
Sharma added that if there are any irregularities then appropriate action would be taken as per regulations of the Income Tax Department.
