'Yenippadigal', the autobiography of 85-year-old auditor G Narayanaswamy, was released at a function in Chennai on Sunday.
The book is the Tamil translation of 'Beyond Auditing' released last
year by the chartered accountant of six decades. The inspirational tale
of how a boy from a poor family in Kumbakonam climbs up the ladder
against all odds to become a chartered accountant targets young readers.
The first copy of 'Yenippadigal' was presented to retired IAS
officer A M Swaminathan by former chief justice of Gujarat high court P R
Gokulakrishnan.
"I got many letters from people who read my book
asking for it to be published in Tamil. Initially, I was very casual
about it but some of them constantly checked with me about the Tamil
version. So, I decided to translate it," said Narayanaswamy.
He
said the book was mainly for youngsters. "It's too late to change old
people. The book is to inspire youngsters to come up in life despite all
the shortcomings," he said.
Justice Gokulakrishnan, who is also a
close friend of GN, said Narayanaswamy achieved success owing to his
honesty and humility. "He is an example of how one can be successful
without using any shortcuts," he said.
