26kg gold, 130kg silver, Rs 16L cash recovered

BIHARSHARIF: Income tax department officials recovered huge quantity of unaccounted gold, silver and cash from the premises of a jeweller at Biharsharif on Wednesday. The raid had started late on Tuesday
evening.

IT officials from Patna raided the business establishment and residence of Mahesh Lal Arya, the owner of Messrs Munna Lal Mahesh Lal Arya at Chowk Bazaar, Biharsharif, reportedly in connection with a tax evasion case. The raids continued till late Wednesday evening.

A police officer said 26kg of gold, 130kg of silver, Rs16 lakh cash and papers related to 22 bank accounts were recovered. Sources said Arya's other premises in Ranchi and Bengaluru were also raided. The Biharsharif outlet of the jewellery shop was recently renovated.
