Jain, the managing director and chairman of Nirmal group, came under
the Income Tax scanner when the authorities raided 17 premises belonging

Authorities said the raid being carried out by more than 80 I-T officers, started on Wednesday morning and was currently on at 17 locations all over the city.
A senior I-T official said that the raids were being conducted after the MD of Nirmal Lifestyle allegedly used fake receipts and showed a lower income to evade taxes. “We are seeking details about the unusual business operations of the builder and seizing documents,” said an I-T officer on condition ofanonymity.
Confirming the raids, Swatantra Kumar, director general (investigation), income tax, said, “Action for tax evasion started yesterday involving 80 officers.”
Jain
had announced last year that he was planning to develop 10 integrated
townships spread across the country. Each township would spread over 100
to 500 acres and would be located at Mumbai, Pune and Indore.
