Members write Letter to ICAI on FORMALITIES AND INTERRUPTION IN CPE SEMINARS

The President, ICAI
New Delhi

Re:  Wastage of time due to formalities and interruption in between the CPE seminars
Sir,
Happy Holi.
As per present ICAI regulation, members are under mandatory obligation to have required CPE hours, in a year. The whole concept of CPE is good, but day by day POU units are making mockery
and fun of this. As member we are under compulsory obligation to attend these seminars, organised by only the POU of the ICAI, as no outside agency is permitted and authorised by ICAI for the same.
When the members reaches to attend these seminars, they are again helpless, at the mercy of the POU and under compulsion to see the “nautanki” that goes on in the name of formalities, before the start of the program.
What to speak of Branch Managing Committee, ex-officio members from Regional Councils and Central Council also become part of the same. Rarely program start at the given time and always there is presentation of bouquets and speeches to/by Regional Council and Central Council members, resulting in wastage of time of the members present, which at times is more than 300.
These CC and RC members, not only waste the time of the members, who go there to update their knowledge and to fulfil the ICAI requirement of mandatory CPE Hours, but also do not care for the CPE guidelines of dais management.
Things go to extreme, when to accommodate any CC or RC member on the dais, who arrives late in such programs, speaker is stopped and announcement of the RC or CC member’s name ; to share  the dais is made.
Sorry to say, sir this is utter disrespect to the learned speaker and the members present there.

Same thing happened in our Faridabad Branch on 04/03/2015, where our learned speaker CA. Ved Jain, past president, was interrupted twice just to accommodate two RC members on the dais.
We request you either to instruct the POU to adhere to CPE guidelines of dais management, time schedule, cutting down the formalities and not to make any interruption in between the programs, just to accommodate CC and RC members else FREE THE MEMBERS FROM THIS COMPULSORY AND MANDATORY CPE HOUR REQUIREMENT.

At times, we members feel, whether we are really the members of this institute or we are at the sole mercy of our elected representatives.
Though your august office, do not respond to our mails, yet we hope some concrete steps will be taken in this regard.
Thanks & Regards                                                                                                                             CC: Secretary ICAI
