Invitation for National Conference for CA Students


WICASA (Western India Chartered Accountants' Students' Association) of WIRC is proud to bring back its biggest annual event, "National Conference for CA Students" on "24th & 25th of November, 2011" at the prestigious venue of "Yogi Sabhagraha" – Dadar (E), Mumbai.

National Conference is an extremely good platform for students not only to gain knowledge from eminent speakers & personalities who would be sharing their views but also to showcase our talent & boost up our morale. Here is another golden opportunity in front of us to showcase our talent to the entire nation. I would request you all to motivate all students & articles to grab this golden opportunity lying before us & prove our mettle. Kindly motivate your students & articles to write papers on the topics given below & send in as many papers as possible.

Details of the Conference

Day 1: 24th Nov, 2011

1.      Inaugration
By President / VP / Chairman BOS. The Inauguration will be followed by a Special Talk by "Gyanvatsal Swamiji" on "What is meant by Breaking the Habit."

 
2.      Develop the known (Technical Session)
a.      Present out of box direct tax solution with workable model.
(Present out of box tax solutions/ideas related various issues & challenges related to both Domestic and  International  Taxation.)

b.      How to maximize input tax credit with practical examples.
(Present practical suggestions and methods to maximize input tax credits available for indirect taxes paid such  as VAT,  Service Tax,  etc.)

c.     360 degree approach to Auditing
(Present how audit requires an all round view not just the pronouncements of the Institute)
 
d.     How to analyse financial statements from competitors, investors or management perspective.
(Young analysts are required to put on the glasses of competitors, investors and  management (Any 2) and give us a   perspective on how  financial statements should be analyzed from each of their point of view.)
 
 
3.      Be the change to bring the change (Special Sesion) (Papers not invited)
a.      Vision 2020

b.      Mr. Chetan Bhagat (subject to confirmation) will take us through his Revolution 2020 and the lessons he has to share with students


4.      Look Beyond (Technical Seesions)
a.      Future of XBRL
( XBRL, a new reporting language is presently viewed as if it was the Y2K of the previous decade. Give an insight of the same.)

b.      Impact of introduction of CFC in DTC
(Present your views on what will be the Impact of introduction of the CFC (Controlled Foreign Company)  regulations in  the Proposed  Direct Tax Code)

c.      Changing role of independent directors under companies bill, 2011
(Explain your views on what will be the future of Independent Directors if the Companies Bill, 2011 goes  through in its  present form)

d.      Future of LLP Format
(Present papers on the Future of LLP format in the Indian Scenario.)

5.      Think Different to do different (Mock)
a.      Revival strategy – Kingfisher/Air India
( Present Revival Strategies for any of the two most debated airlines in India today – Kingfisher, a private  airline on one  hand, and Air  India, a government owned airline on the other. Also present your views on the  same.)

b.      Business restructuring for value creation with case studies and practical examples
(Present Case Studies on how through Business Restructuring value is created resulting into turnaround of various entities.  Explaining implications of Direct Taxes, Indirect Taxes, Business & Performance, Value Creation, Equity  Prices etc.)
 
Day 2: 24th Nov, 2011
6.      Be Versatile (Special Session) (Papers not invited)
A CA is well recognized and respected in the society because of his / her versatility and ability to adapt to various situations whether as  auditors, consultants or business leaders. This characteristic is inculcated in every CA student through testing on various challenging  subjects, through practical training and through management courses. It will our aim to help you "Be Versatile" through a Special  Session (no papers are invited) where experts will present their views to enable students to realize their true potential.

7.      Speak up (Technical Session)
a.      RTI Act
(The Right to Information Act has singlehandedly created the fall of many. But do we as citizens know how  to use this effectively? Present papers on The Right to Information Act as a tool to Speak Up.)
 
b.      Citizen Charter
(Every act that affects the public has a charter which explains how the same shall secure the citizens and what are the responsibilities of  the governing parties and legislators towards the Citizens of this country.  Write papers on the Citizen Charter being a tool to Speak Up.)
 
8.      Show Something New (Special Session) (Papers not invited)
a.      BCPDRP in BPO, travel and tourism and IT sector
(Experts will take us through BCP & DRP in various industries giving us real life experience.)

b.      Forensic and Investigation (Cyber crime division)
(Seasoned Forensic Investigators will take us through the Cyber Crime and how we as professionals can play  a role in securing our  present and future clients from any loss or damages.)
 

9.      Go Out of Elements (Mock)
a.      Settlement Commission.
(Group of Students are invited to perform/act a mock on the procedures of Settlement Commission with a  case study. Students  interested in the same are requested to kindly co-ordinate with the WICASA team for  the same with respect to this Mock.)
 
  

Instructions:

1.     Students are supposed to write a paper on any of the above topics (Technical & Mock Sessions only) in word document &  send it to  me latest by 14th of November, 2011.
 
2.     Papers should cover the topics appropriately in a concise manner (Long papers are not advisable).
 
 
3.     Papers will be evaluated on the basis of the content & coverage of the topics & students will be informed about selection of  the same  within 3 days.
 
4.     The selected papers are then to be presented in the National Conference through a Powerpoint presentation.
 
5.     Students will be given approx. 10-15minutes to present their papers.
 
6.     There is no limit on the number of papers per student. A student can present 2 or more papers too.
