February 15, 2012
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am sure you must be enjoying the chilly weather. Not only has the winter been extended, but also the presentation of The Budget and the Finance Bill 2012, which is scheduled to be presented on 16th March, 2012.It would be a challenging task ahead of the Finance Minister, in this period of extremities, to maintain focus while chaos prevails on a national front as well as on a global level. BCAS has sent a pre-budget memorandum to the Finance Minister. I surely hope that the issues highlighted are considered, and that adequate thought goes in before finally presenting the Bill.
In times of increasing professional complexities and compliances, we are anxious about what Mr. Pranab Mukherjee has to offer in the Finance Bill 2012. To understand the intricate provisions and niceties of the Budget, the Society has planned meetings on Direct Tax provisions as well as Indirect and Service Tax provisions for the benefit of members.
Like every year, BCAS will publish the Budget booklet analysing important amendments proposed in the Finance Bill 2012. I am sure members will book their copies in advance to distribute to their clients in order to keep them informed about the highlights of the Finance Bill 2012.
I would like to remind you all, that before you get busy spending your intellectual time in analysing and advising your clients on the proposals in the Finance Bill, do not forget to renew your membership of the Society. The enrolment and renewal for Web TV and for BCAS Study Circles for 2012-2013 has already begun. Ten Study Circles on different subjects have been formed, the details of which are appearing in this Newsletter. It’s my personal experience, and I strongly believe, that participating in these Study Circles gives one an opportunity to master the subject of one’s interest. I therefore urge members who have not enrolled so far, to do so at the earliest. I also urge them to bring the Students’ Study Circle to the knowledge of their Article Students and encourage them to enrol for the same, as it will enable them to keep abreast with the latest developments, develop discussion skills and enhance confidence.
CA. Yezdi H. Malegam, a member of our Society and a Past President of our Institute, has been conferred the prestigious Padma Shri award. Our heartiest congratulations to him for such a great achievement.
My heartiest congratulations to Mr. Jaydeep Shah and Mr. Subodh Kumar Agrawal for being elected as the President and Vice-President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India respectively. I wish them a very successful tenure.
We thank our members who have opted to receive the newsletter by e-mail instead of the printed copy. The full newsletter is available on the BCAS website at the following URL:
