THE CBI has nabbed a General Manager of ONGC, Assam, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000/- . The complainant in the case had said that that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs.40,000/- from the complainant for awarding a contract of Annual Rate Contract (ARC) in ONGC. A case was registered against the accused.
CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000/- from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused which yielded a recovery of cash Rs.3.60 Lakh; 15 Bank Accounts and documents of six properties. Incriminating documents recovered are being scrutinized for further investigation.The accused was produced today before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Assam, Guwahati and was remanded to judicial custody upto 22.02.2012.
